BeachRight had its beginnings in 2023 when Natalie Mongan was a junior at East Hampton High School. For her advanced placement research course, Natalie researched and measured the beach in Amagansett, New York over a three month period. Her measurements showed that during the sample period the beach receded by approximately 50 feet. Natalie intentionally chose a simple linear measurement method so that members of the public could get involved. Natalie's efforts to promote citizen science became the foundation of BeachRight.

BeachRight welcomes all members of the public to participate its work and has a special focus on teens and youth. At BeachRight, we believe that young people have a responsibility to create the world that they want to live in. And we believe young people have the natural right and authority to speak up for the interests of coming generations.
